Welcome, my name is Richard Ganofsky, son of Caroline Falzini.

Along with my cousins, Barbara, Fabrizio and Riccardo Falzini, who are the children of Paolo Falzini of Castelnuovo di Porto, we are tracing our family's genealogical heritage.

We will give an in depth look at The Falzini Family, whose origins begin in Contigliano, and spead out ward to Castelnuovo di Porto Italy, and Cleveland, Ohio U.S.A.

We will also be researching the many family's who are related to The Falzini's of Castelnuovo di Porto, as well as the other existing family's of Castelnuovo di Porto.
The Italians are responsible for one of the largest exoduses in history.

From 1876 to 1924, more than four and a half million Italians arrived in the United States.

A vast majority of immigrants came from Southern Italy, who were leaving to escape economic hardships at that time.

Italians were very impoverished, they worked mainly as Sharecroppers, Artisians, Farmlabors, and Shoemakers.

They worked in collective units to survive in the dismal atmosphere of Southern Italy.

Children didn't receive an education after the third grade.

Because of the poverty, childern were often sent away as young as ten years old to learn a trade.

They had to fend for themselves.

Introduction ---

The Purpose of this Web Site is to preserve and procure The Falzini Family Heritage.

Every one has a story to tell, and it is the personal history of each and every one of us that makes this project much more than a search for cold hard data.

It is these stories that give us a feeling of connectedness to something far greater than ourselves, and the sense of being "anchored" indeed, "rooted in time."

Our indiviual heritage's fascinate most of us.  We're interested in our ancestors, where they lived, how they lived, and their journey to America for a better life.

As we understand the history and cultures of Italy,we will soon learn the motivations behind our ancestors.

With this in mind, our ancestors will become much more than nameless faces, they will become family.

As many of you know, I have been researching the Falzini family heritage for over 12 years now.

In October of 2005 till January 2006, I went to Castelnuovo di Porto to visit our family, and continue my research abroad.

During my visit there, I was fortunate enough to visit Contigliano in the region of Rieti.

This is where are family originally came from, when are name was still spelled Falsini.

I currently have information on The Falsini's from about 1650, who changed the spelling to Falzini sometime about 1792 in Castelnuovo di Porto, and have traced the family to 2006.

For the past 15 years, I have been working on the genealogical history of Castelnuovo di Porto,  so that one day it could be presented in the version of a CD - ROM complete with picures.

So far I have researched over 3500 ancestors and decendants in our family.

About 570 of these are directly  related to The Falzini Family.
